PVD Black Matte, Back Post, Solid Iron
The B1414 back posts are used on on feet and studs. These are ‘compression-fit’ meaning they must be hammered together. We make these compression fit as they are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to separate once set. We do not make the screw-in version because these often have quality issues and fall off over time.

Measurements:
- Post Diameter approx.: 3.13mm
- Head Diameter approx.: 9.10mm
How to Choose the Correct Back Post B1414
We recommend 3/16″ (4.6mm) of post to come through the other side of material, and a minimum of 1/8 inch (3mm).For example:If the thickness of the material you will be attaching the post to is 1/8 thick, then we recommend the B-1414 5/16″. (minimum required to go in the hole 3/16″ plus thickness of material 1/8″(2/16″) = 5/16″).Please remember to take into considerationthe material being used. Some material will be very firm like wood and will remain the same thickness when the item is attached. Other materials like leather or foam will compress once it is assembled. You should be using the compressed material thickness to determine the size of the B-1414 you will need.
What is PVD Black:
- PVD = “Physical Vapor Deposition”
- PVD is a highly accurate plating process carried out in high vacuum environments at temperatures between 150 and 500 C. It produces an extremely (emphasizeEXTREMELY) durable finish to prevent scratching. Typically, black hardware that is found in the marketplace is not PVD, and is generally considered a black spray paint causing it to chip and scratch off within days. PVD plating is the process used to plate high end watch hardware, golf clubs, etc., and the only successful way to make a black that will not wear off. The PVD process is more intensive and is thus reflected in the price per piece. Pleaseclick hereto learn more about PVD plating.
